Top wine bars in Adelaide’s East

Adelaide's East top bars

Stone’s Throw
Stone’s Throw on Norwood Parade is a suburban gem of a wine bar and will have your cosy winter drinks destination sorted. The venue’s shop front will grab your attention at first sight, with the wide variety of wine on display. Step inside and you’ve got two well-stocked bars, plus a light and bright restaurant at the back serving up their delicious menu from locally sourced produce. Our recommendation… check out their prepared drinks list incorporating the seasonal produce from the restaurant!

National Wine Centre
At the National Wine Centre of Australia, you can experience the world of Australia wines, all in the one place. Inside Australia’s largest tasting room, you’ll be able to sample from a range of 120 different wines all dispensed from state-of-the-art enomatic servers. Choose, pour and taste! Here you’ll develop an appreciation for the making of wine and the history of the industry, all while you explore the Centre or sit back in the bar with a cheeseboard to compliment your drop of choice.

The cellar one of the largest in the Southern Hemisphere, storing up to 38,000 bottles at any one time.

Hellbound
Hellbound is a wine bar first and foremost. And the furthest thing from pretentious. There are 20 wines by the glass, starting from $8 cleanskins, and more than 200 listed bottles that soar up to $2000 a bottle, and literally every price point in between. The brains behind Hellbound wanted to create a wine bar for everybody, young and old, classic to contemporary. And they have! Hellbound was a long time coming for a couple of industry gurus and what was once a vision, is now a local hot spot in Adelaide’s East End.

Mother Vine
A sophisticated wine bar experience brought to life by an industry dream time of South Australian wine and hospitality experts. Enjoy the choice of some 20 wines available by taste, glass or bottle, drawn mainly from Australia, France, Spain and Italy. Plus, if you’re feeling peckish, Mother Vine offers an array of tapas, cheeses, and large plates to compliment the impressive wine selection. Here’s the best part. If you trust your palate, order a tasting flight of three masked, 50ml pours. If you can answer the accompanying multiple-choice quiz, the flight is free!

We highly encourage drinking and not driving, so stay nearby and stroll home before the sun comes to rise.
